Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine


       In 2019 I hung up my stethoscope for good and walked away from practicing as a doctor. While I loved my one-on-one connection with patients, the stress of practice outweighed the joy that it brought me and it was time to finally make the change that I had been planning for a long time. Since my third year in school to be exact. I knew, even back then, that being a doctor wasn't what I wanted long term.    

     In 2020 I became a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Looking back, had I known that it existed in 2010 when I began my path towards naturopathic medical school I probably wouldn't have gone that way. I don't regret the long hours, the many years in school or the time spent earning my ND. Everything has a purpose. All of the things I learned have influenced the type of provider I am and the kind of person I want to be. 

     The few short years I was in practice as an ND I realized how many people were missing some of the 'basics' of health. The often 'hard' things such as a balanced diet, adequate sleep and intentional movement are often skipped over in favor of fancy diets, supplements and quick fixes that make the work easier. Health doesn't have to be complicated. Many people find that once they have the foundational habits and skills that they don't need the quick fixes. 

     I am passionate about the basics. Learning how to eat a whole foods diet intuitively, making sleep a priority, moving your body in ways that are fun and that doesn't feel like work, and doing things daily that bring you joy are all needed to build a healthy foundation for life. 

     When I am not practicing as a health coach I love spending time with my husband and three dogs. I am originally from Oregon, but have been living in Missouri for the last three and a half years. I love the outdoors, coffee, music, naps, and all things hygge.
